Every year, 18 unsigned bands from across the globe share the bill with internationally renowned bands at the Taubertal Open Air Festival in Rothenburg, Germany.

It’s down to the final 18 bands that came out of 6,000 plus bands, from over 150 cities around the globe.

Crossed Keys, our favorite Heart Core Rock group from Los Angeles, is 1 of 3 bands from the United States that made it to the 18 finalists.

These super talented groups will be brought to Rothenburg to represent their cities and countries for the final Battle of the Bands. For 3 days, this past weekend (8-8-08 thru 8-10-08) Crossed Keys one of the world’s best unsigned bands will share the stage with internationally renowned bands such as The Hives, Danko Jones, Anti Flag, The Futureheads, The Editors plus many more.

The Community of Artists from Hothouse Studios is tremendously excited for Jaimis, Preston, Bryan, Adam and Greg and I’m especially delighted for them. I know all the long hours of intense work they’ve put in.

As soon as I have more news I’ll keep you all updated. Until them read the review below from the festival.

Crossed Keys is a female fronted rock’n'roll band with more balls than most men we’ve seen. Did I mention they had a tinge of country too? This is rock, California style. This girl was blessed with a voice to match her stunning looks. A tight unit that looked super confident on stage. Solo riffs, strong bass playing and solid drumming topped with looks that complimented their songs … simply great. Thanks for the songs Los Angeles, thanks for the show… thanks for the eye candy for the boys and girls … 3 cheers for L.A. … hip hip hurrah!

It appears Crossed Keys showed the German crowd that California rock is still the best.

I recently had the pleasure of audiencing the band known as “Scentric,” at the Emergenza (Does that sound like a cold-remedy to anyone else?) battle-of-the-bands finals, and I have to admit that after witnessing the sounds of their melodic-metal, I was tempted to write a cliched “rock show” review, where I would give a cleverly-thought-out demonstrative description of the band’s show, and a gushing diatribe as to why you all must go see them yourselves, … but I’ve decided against all that. So, in other words, I’m not going to talk about the hard-riding riffs, and string-striking solos of guitarists ‘Lunchbox,’ and ‘Brock.’ Nor will I speak about the decorous and dynamical vocals that eminate from the deceptively diminutive frame of singer, ‘Clint,’ or the undullating undertows of bass-man, ‘Spooky’s’ lines. And I especially will not mention the steady, sexy drumming of the salaciously sightly ‘Chelsea.’ Nope. Not gonna do it.

Instead, I’d just like to take a moment to tell you all why I really like, and more importantly, respect this band. Not only are they all terrific musicians, hard-rocking showmen (and woman), and wonderful people, to boot, but they have written one of the best rock-melodic-metal songs that I have ever heard, period. That song, titled “Per-Omnia” (now the title of this blog makes sense?), not only captures all of the above qualities of the band, but does to me what all great music strives to do to its audience: It moves me. Try it on yourself, and you may see why.

So forget about if they won the battle (they didn’t), or where they placed (they didn’t). These things are not important in the grand scheme of things. What is important is this: How many great songs has your band written? Go see this band!

Scentric peromnia!
