Tribute to Halloween Rehearsals
at Hothouse Studios

Johnny “Vatos” Hernandez (drums) along with his former band mates in Oingo Boingo Steve Bartek (guitar), John Avila (bass) and Sam “Sluggo” Phipps (saxophones) were back in the auditorium on Tuesday preparing for their “Tribute to Halloween” shows at the Hollywood House of Blues on Friday October 26, 2007 and Saturday October 27, 2007 at the House of Blues in Anaheim. The band is huge. In addition to the original members the band is rounded out with 2 keyboard players, a lead vocalist, two background singers, a 5 piece string section and a 3 piece horn section. If you haven’t got your tickets yet, you can purchase them at Ticketmaster or the House of Blues website. Having sat in on the rehearsal I can assure you these shows are going to be smashing. The shows will feature songs from Oingo Boingo and the Nightmare Before Christmas motion picture. Don’t miss these shows.

Crème de la Crème at the
2007 KaraokeFest

Clint Gamboa lead singer for the Rock/Hardcore band Scentric was recently crowned the Crème de la Crème winner at the 2007 KaraokeFest held at this years L.A. County Fair.  Winning 1st place at an event this massive with competition this stiff is a real reputation builder.  But it doesn’t surprise me that Clint won the KaraokeFest, if you’ve heard him sing like I have, you wouldn’t be surprised either.  Simply said Clint is blessed with one of those rock solid unique voices and unique singers that have power like his are hard to find. 

Congratulation Clint!

Bagg of Noize is an exceptionally original rock band that is earning respect around the local area for their remarkable live performances.  Bagg of Noize blends Rock, R&B and Jazz into infectious songs that are undeniably unique.  Bagg of Noize is a band to keep your ears open for.  The guys are in the auditorium right now in the midst of their promotional photo shoot.  As with everything Bagg of Noize does this is a real pro photo shoot and the shots are turning out fabulous.  Check out Bagg of Noize at their myspace profile, myspace.com/baggofnoizemuzic. 

Their manager Al Masocco has been grooming the boys and the band is unfolding perfectly.

Actors Workshop


Tanya Brooks and her TanLouBro Entertainment Actors’ Workshop has been rehearsing for their upcoming show and will be in the auditorium again this weekend. The kids are having a blast and will be rehearsing with the live music on Saturday.  It’s really cool to watch the production coming together week by week.  We are honored to have Tanya and the kids join the Hothouse community of artist.  Check back, we’ll have more info on Tanya and her actor’s workshops coming soon.

We all know Steve Steadham is a skateboarding hall of famer, but did you know he’s a multi-instrumental musical talent.  I found out Steve is a singer, drummer, keyboardist and a off the hook producer and recording engineer.   Earlier this week while Steve was in studio A  he played me a few songs, and I was blown away by his music.  Man, the production and the songs were dazzling.  The songs I listened to were his reggae/dancehall tunes, but he told me he also produces metal, funk, house, and rock music.  It appears Steve is putting together a band to tour with as he promotes his latest CD “the Planetz”.   Ronny North (guitar), Brain (bass) and Scott (drums) were in with Steve (keys and vocals) working on the music for the first time as a unit and they played together so naturally.  Look for Steve and the band, coming to your town soon
